One of the keys to healthy eating is a nutritious breakfast. In a world where we are all running to catch the next bus, train or deadline we can easily overlook breakfast. This page has links to some simple and tasty breakfast ideas so you can quickly navigate to the recipes and top cooking tips. There are also some ideas for some more indulgent breakfast treats which are some of my absolute favourite dishes like fluffy American style pancakes and Smoked Haddock Kedgeree.
Why is Breakfast Important?
A good breakfast has been shown to be important for good health. There is evidence it can help reduce the risk of type two diabetes, heart disease, lower the level of bad cholesterol and aid weight control. A good breakfast will provide you with a slow release of energy you need as fuel. This will help you to be able to concentrate and focus.
A balanced breakfast is rich in essential vitamins and minerals. Such as calcium, iron, folates, and vitamins A, B, C, and D, that the body needs to function, as well as a source of protein, carbohydrate, and fibre. Whole grains, nuts, raw fruits, eggs and dairy such as plain yogurt are all great sources of the nutrients. We all need a well-balanced diet to live healthy lives.
